Lavender Essential Oil
:
Neither lavender oil nor
eucalyptus are safe to take internally, even in small amounts. Low doses
of either oil can cause diarrhea, severe abdominal pain, vomiting and
rectal bleeding.
Lavender
essential oil is the perfect
tonic to improve the state of the nervous system. Its calming and relaxing
properties are well known. The scent alone has the ability to remove
nervous restlessness and exhaustion,
and increase the mind's ability to think clearly. It has been used to
successfully treat migraines, headaches, emotional stress, anxiety, and
depression long before there were ever drug treatments for such things. To
benefit from using lavender essential oil for this purpose you can put a
few drops in a clean spray bottle with water and spray some around your
home. This is also a great way to help you relax before going to bed.
Lavender essential oil has both
antiseptic and anti-fungal properties, so it can also be used to treat
skin conditions such as acne, wrinkles, psoriasis and other types of skin
inflammations. Lavender has also been shown to reduce the progression of
candida albicans.
Lavender essential oil appears to have a cell regenerating action. It is
soothing and has a topical analgesic action that helps with itching. When
used with pain medication, it increases the effects of the medication.
Sleep:
Lavender is known as a calming and relaxing herb and has frequently been
used for insomnia, anxiety, depression, and natural stress relief.

various respiratory problems including throat infections, flu, cough,
cold, asthma, sinus congestion, bronchitis, whooping cough, laryngitis,
and tonsillitis. The oil is either used in the form of vapor or applied on
the skin of neck, chest and back. Test it out on a small patch of skin, a
little goes a long way.
Skin Care: The health benefits of lavender oil for the skin
can be attributed to its antiseptic and antifungal properties. It is used
to treat various skin disorders such as acne, wrinkles, psoriasis, and
other inflammations. It heals wounds, cuts, burns, and sunburns rapidly as
it aids in the formation of scar tissues.
Hair Care: Lavender essential oil is useful for the hair as
it can be very effective on lice and lice eggs or nits.
Blood Circulation: Lavender essential oil is also good for
improving blood circulation. It lowers blood pressure and is used for
hypertension.
Aromatherapy Methods:
Inhalation: add
two or three drops of essential oil to a bowl of steaming hot water and
breathe in the steam for a few minutes.
Bathing: add four to six drops of pure essential oils to a
hot bath along with a dispersant, such as alcohol or milk to break up the
oil on the surface of the water.
Massage: using 15 to 20 drops of pure essential oil in 1 ounce of massage oil base is one of the most relaxing and therapeutic ways
to receive the aromatherapy benefits of the oils, along with the
detoxification of the body through lymph drainage and the stimulation of
the entire circulatory system.
Spray: adding 1 teaspoon of essential oils to 7 ounces of
distilled water along with 90% isopropyl alcohol to emulsify the oils,
then spray on bedding, linens, towels, and use as a room spray to
